I Get By With Little Help From My Friends
We live in New Orleans , Louisiana where he dragged them into a music store named Rock World and ordered this kit. I can remember him telling me how nice this kit was gonna be and that he was going crazy waiting for it to come in. Well from the day it came in and made its way to my house he could not keep his little brother ( thats me )off of it. I have to say I fell in love with it the moment I first saw it, plus it was the biggest kit I had ever seen. Well, he was in the band for about 3 years after that, then the band fell apart. He wanted to sell them ,but he knew how much I loved them and I had gotten pretty good on them for my age so he gave them to me. Well, I started up a band and I have been gigging with the vistakit ever since. I never knew just what I had until Ludwig stopped making Vistalites.
Now over the years with all the gigs and all the travel some of the tom mounts started to break. I started to look for some new ones ( this was before computers were so common ) and in every music store I went in or called all I got was the same story.,.,.,.,nope , sorry can't help ya dude.,.,THEY DON'T MAKE THEM ANYMORE. So, not wanting to change all the mounts on the drums shells themselves I took off the drums I could not set up any more, the 6.,8.,15 .,& 16 " toms and use what I had left. At the time this was ok because I was tired of hauling this big kit all over gig after gig and I still had an 8 pc. kit ( bigger then what most people use )
The kit takes 4 of these tom mounts when all set up, so over the past year I lost another one of the tom mounts and I was down to a 5 pc. kit and could no longer even setup the double bass. So, I got on the computer and started looking and while on a Pearl web site someone told me to look up this guy , then look up that guy bla bla bla. No one could help me or even knew what parts I was talking about then on the computer I found a man named Andy @ Vistalites.com. He told me to contact Kenny Verducci at Vistalite Drums and if ANYONE could help me it would be HIM. Well, when I went to Kenny's vistalite site I was in heaven, looking at all these vistakits drove me crazy. I e-mailed Kenny and we started talking, he knew just what parts I was talking about but wanted some pictures to be sure. After the pictures were sent to him, Kenny then started out on what I call a QUEST.,.,.,a quest to help me fix my kit. He also told me to contact Bobby Chiasson at The Drum Farm to see if he might have any tom mounts around . Now, while all this is going on I am still gigging, but only with a SMALL 5 pc. kit.
Then it happened .,.,.,BAM !!!.,.,.,the last tom mount BROKE .,.,.,.,now I can't set up anything..... nothing.
Now I had been talking to Kenny for about two or three weeks when the last mount broke. After looking EVERYWHERE for my parts, Kenny e-mailed me and said I have two of the mounts you need. This was the day after my last mount broke. I can't even tell you how happy I was at that time, so I called Kenny on the phone and he said give me your info so I can send them to you. I told him where to send them and I asked him how much the parts would be so I could send the money to him.
Kenny then blew my mind when he said.,.,.,nahhh.,.,,.don't worry about the money I'm just glad I could help you get the parts ya need. I told Kenny .,., NO WAY could I do this.,.,.,I said how much .,.,man ya gotta let me pay you at least for your shipping. He said , ok I'll make you a deal .,.,.,you are from New Orleans ,,,,right? I said yes I am, then he said you can send me the money for shipping but not for parts.,.,.,.,for the parts, you can send me a hooded sweatshirt that says New Orleans on it, but it has to be hooded, ok?
Well I almost fell over.,.,.,I laughed and said you got it Kenny.,.,.,.,THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
The very next morning I got another e-mail from Bobby at The Drum Farm and he told me he also had one mount I could have for $ 60.00.
Well, the whole kit is set up again, it looks and feels great to play it again after so many years and its ALL THANKS to Kenny.
Once again I would like to thank Kenny for this wonderful site and for all of his time spent searching for my parts and helping me put my vistakit back together. I dont think it would have happened without him. Now you know what I mean when I said.,.,.,.,.,.,
I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends.
